Let’s call a spade a Kate Spade…somewhere in between putting on your eye cream nightly without fail and even RSVPing when you cannot attend an event, you turned the corner and became a grown-up.

What better to go with your sophisticated self than a sweet little collection of tea towels and napkins fromStudio 3? This Austin-based design studio speaks to your “big girl” sensibility (tea towels always trump paper towels), but the whimsical design aesthetic keeps you young at heart. A collection of screen-printed vintage linens with everything from handlebar mustaches to pretty little birdies and bicycles will give your kitchen the perfect amount of kitsch.

Welcome to adulthood, with a monogrammed “A”.

www.ilovestudiothree.com

Check out the goods from Studio 3 TONIGHT, Thursday, August 19th, from 6 – 9 p.m., atFinch. Drinks and appetizers will be provided as well as entertainment from MenRG and a performance by What’s Tappening.

August 14th through the August 21st, fashion forward and eco-friendly table linen designers Studio Three will be partnered with local retailer Finch to bring you hip modern textiles for your home. Austin Fashion week could not have made a better pairing with local retailer Finch located in Austin’s popular 2nd street corridor. Owner Kristi Pruett fell in love with the collaboratives vintage linens and eclectic designs, last year when the two businesses were teamed up together for the first Austin Fashion Week. “It really is a match made in heaven. We had admired Finch, since it first opened. We knew instantly that we had the same aesthetic–earthy minimalism with a touch of caprice. Our products really compliment each other. It was pure serendipity that we were placed together again. “

Studio Three, the fun and whimsical screen-printing collaborative boasts clever designs and sustainable products made from recycled, vintage or organic textiles. UT grads, Beatrice Thomas, Alaina Chambers and Carissa Leos formed the company shortly after they had all graduated from design school. There they cultivated a knowledge and commitment to sustainable product design. Studio 3 was born out of the desire to practice truly ecologically sustainable design with considerable thought given to the lifecycle of an object and its final resting place. Enamored with the concept of up-cycling –that someone’s trash could be someone else’s treasure—vintage linens were the perfect vehicle for Studio 3’s designs and ideology.

Join Finch and Studio 3 for at their reception on August 19th at Finch (417 West 2nd Street, 78701) from 6 – 9 pm for a drink. The hip What’s Tappening will perform at 8 pm and local DJs MENRG will provide the tunes. In addition, Finch will be offering 15% off all night long and Studio 3 will be raffling off select textiles!

VOTE FOR STUDIO THREE in the Austin Fashion Awards!

Studio Three is committed to being involved in and helping the community, they dedicate a significant number of hours to screen printing education and at-risk youth camps and workshops.

A new found relationship with Portland, ME based environmental music group Reverb (www.reverb.org) has allowed Studio 3 to bring their outreach on the road nationally by combining environmental education, college music tours and sustainable screen printing.

Whether it is donating services or teaching, it all serves to fulfill Studio 3’s mission of contributing back to their environment both socially and ecologically, while inspiring and educating others of the importance and cultural significance of art in our daily lives.

After days of screen printing my hands are beat. I would have man hands if my hands were larger, but instead they look like the hands of a kindergartner, small and gross with chipped finger nails stained with ink. For the first time I have blisters from the squeegees, so I decided to train my left hand to print, to give my right hand a break. The left hand seems to be doing well at printing so far.
Examples of my hard work have been spotted. Several members of the tour have been sporting a screen printed Campus Consciousness tour shirt and a screen printed bag is being used to store Drake’s bra collection!

Hooray for a few days off! Thank you Drake for going to the Juno Awards because I need some rest and relaxation. It’s going to be awesome to sleep in a real bed and not fall asleep to the hum of a bus engine. Hopefully I can wake up without a Drake song in my head and hopefully my arm muscles can recover too. My arms are super sore from screen printing at Michigan State, Oakland University ,West Virginia University and Washington Jefferson, but thankfully I had some excellent volunteer help. And after a couple weeks on tour, I finally met Drake.

Elliott and Anthony from Reverb have done an awesome job documenting the tour so be sure to check out the Campus Consciousness Tour’s facebook page for photos and videos!

After a LONG flight from Austin to JFK to Portland, Maine we’re finally on the bus and ready to start on the Ben Harper & Relentless 7 CCT tour. Everyone on the bus is really cool and it’s fun to get to know people from varying backgrounds and parts of the country. The Reverb team is amazing, of course.

Apparently the original bus we were supposed to get on to start the Ben Harper CCT Tour had problems and we were upgraded to a really nice bus. It’s Dave Matthews Band’s old bus and it’s really nice. I seriously feel like Justin Timberlake on MTV Cribs; sans the successful musical career, style, and moves. Anyway, Portland, Maine is a cool little city. I’m told they call it the Austin of Maine. The best part of this place is that almost every restaurant uses natural and organic ingredients and foods. For a health freak like me; it’s borderline heaven.

We’re off to Whole Foods to get some snacks, pick up some production guys, and head to Buffalo for a day at Niagra Falls. See y’all at the next stop!
